Optimizing conformance control for gas injection EOR in unconventional reservoirs

Field observations have shown that interference between wells caused by connected fractures commonly exists in unconventional reservoirs. The well effect and conformance issues could lead to minimal enhanced oil recovery response (EOR) actual operations if they are not properly controlled. A series of data analysis, modeling, experimental activities were performed this study investigate the gas EOR strategies Bakken Formation. Employing embedded discrete fracture modeling technology, a multiple-well, multiple-fracture model was developed capture Bakken. made it possible complex flow behavior (huff ‘n’ puff) processes. Alternative control using water surfactant injections studied improve production performance based on observations. Results showed injection be used for because its relatively low mobility compared gas; however, also block around high interfacial tension water. Adding is more effective improving since reduces oil–water contact angle effectively. Up 9.4% produced from huff puff 2 years when rich injected at only 3 MMscf/d with 6000 psi offset control.
